Configuring a RightFax System – Defining DID / DNIS Inbound Routing

Welcome to the RightFax Resource Center. Today I will be showing you how to configure a RightFax system to route inbound faxes to a specific user using the DID or DNIS.

This is the most accurate and widely used method for routing inbound faxes. Each user is configured with a specific Routing Code, and when RightFax receives a fax, it matches a certain number of digits in the dialed number to the routing codes to find the destination user

To configure your RightFax system, let’s begin in Enterprise Fax Manager.

1. Start in Services
2. Double click on the DocTransport Module and expand “Brooktrout”
3. Expand “RightFax OEM”
4. Above, find the section titled “DID Settings”
5. Here, you can set the number of digits required for routing.
6. Once you’re done, simply hit OK to complete your configuration.

Let’s look at an example. This received fax was sent to 212-555-1001. Based on our configuration, RightFax is going to look at the last 4 digits of this fax’s destination number and route the fax accordingly.

Looking in EFM, we can see that routing number 1001 is connected to the DID_Routing user, so RightFax will deliver this inbound fax to the user’s fax inbox as a TIFF.
